First Amendment Day has some exciting events planned to celebrate and inform the student press.

Mark Goodman, Knight professor of scholastic journalism at Kent State University, leads a session of High School Press. Dave Saldana will lead a panel discussion on "The First Amendment in a Post-9/11 World." Mercedes Lynn de Uriarte, University of Texas, heads up a session on "The Art of Inclusion: Getting the Entire School on the Pages of Your Publication."

Lindsay Gilbert, Greenlee School student services, will hold a session on "Your Future in College," to talk and answer questions about the journalism program in the Greelee School at Iowa State University. The day will end with Mark Goodman's keynote "Censoring Freedom: How the Quest for Security Is Trumping Your Constitutional Rights."

As always, First Amendment Day will start off with the annual Freedom March from Ames City Hall with the “Feast on the First” celebrating the five freedoms over a feast taking place in the afternoon. Visit the events link for more information.
